Introduction to SQL Course Overview

The Introduction to SQL course is designed to give delegates practical experience in using ANSI standard SQL. As it is a generic course, some of the differences between different vendors' implementations will be noted.

Exercises and examples are used throughout the course to give practical hands-on experience with the techniques covered.

To provide the knowledge and skills needed to retrieve data held in a relational database.

Who will the Course Benefit?

Anyone who needs to understand and use SQL to manipulate a database.

There are no formal pre-requisites for this Introduction to SQL course, although an understanding of databases and exposure to information technology in general would be useful.

Course Notes

There is an overlap between the content of this 1 day Introduction to SQL course and the content on the suggested follow-on 3 day SQL courses. You may wish to review the contents of the 3 day SQL courses (Oracle SQL, SQL for PostgreSQL, Querying Microsoft SQL Server with Transact-SQL Introduction to MySQL or Introduction to MariaDB) and attend one of those courses instead if it is found to be more suitable to your training needs.

Requirements

There are no formal pre-requisites for the Introduction to SQL course, although an understanding of databases and exposure to information technology in general would be useful. This knowledge can be gained by attendance on the Relational Databases & Data Modelling Overview course.
